The Story

Am I for the bots,
or am I for the humans?

The answer changed everything.

The Beginning

Justin Kabbani had a business card at 15. He ran the Student Representative Council at Melbourne High School like a proper business. He was flipping burgers at McDonald's at 14 years and 9 months, after his neighbour drove him through the drive-through and told the manager he was starting the next day.

From there, every job imaginable. Luxury hotels, front desk and valet. Inner-city bars on overnight shifts. Videographer at the Australian Open. Photographer for weddings and events. Pool cleaner.

But through all of it, one constant: a fascination with technology. From the early days of a Commodore 128D through a 286, 386, 486, and Pentium, upgrading every year, Justin always had a computer by his side. Not just using it. Understanding it. Connecting with it. Working out how people could use it easily.

The Agency Years

After studying business marketing and creative advertising at RMIT, Justin launched Hard Hat with a childhood friend. Strategy and creative. This was before you could upload a video to YouTube. Before you could search on Google. Websites were the frontier, and Justin went headfirst into producing content-managed sites before WordPress was even a thing.

As they mastered websites, email marketing became a thing. Then social media. Then iPhone apps. Then digital transformation. Every wave of technology that hit business, Justin was there, translating it into something practical and profitable for his clients.

Hard Hat grew to a team of 45 across Melbourne and Sydney, working with premium Australian brands. Seventeen years of building, scaling, and translating technology into business outcomes. In October 2022, Justin exited the business.

The Moment Everything Changed

A few weeks after exiting Hard Hat, sitting at a rented desk in a co-working space, ChatGPT was released. Justin and a couple of mates started dabbling, sharing results in a WhatsApp group. Over a six-week family road trip that summer, the conviction grew: this was going to be big.

Then came the moment. Working at a client's office, Justin looked up at the wall and saw the company values. Not three memorable words like his agency had used (hustle, humility, and heart). Eight big sheets. A hundred words on each. So much content that nobody in the building could remember any of it.

The CEO sent through the PDF. On a Monday morning, Justin sat down with ChatGPT and got to work. By early morning, he had distilled hundreds of words into three clear values. He reverse-checked every word against the originals. He built the presentation. He designed the rollout assets. Just after lunch, the entire project was done.

This was the kind of project that would have taken six people, six weeks, and $60,000 back at his agency. It was done in a morning.

Justin went back to the business owner and said: “You can have this for free. But let's get your leadership team in a room, because I wonder how many other opportunities there are to solve if they knew how to use AI.”

That was the beginning of the very first corporate AI workshop Justin ever delivered.

Bots or Humans?

Around the same time, Justin had been studying the neuroscience of peak performance under Professor Steven Kotler to become a certified flow coach. At Hard Hat, he had always protected the deep thinking time of his team. He understood the impact of interruptions and how powerful deep work could be.

As AI grew more central to his work, it felt like an existential crisis. Was he for the bots, or was he for the humans?

Then it clicked: they were the same thing.

AI was the ultimate flow tool. It removed the inhibitors. It eliminated the red zone tasks that drained energy and killed creativity. It allowed people to elevate to their highest value zones. AI was not the enemy of human potential. AI was the key that unlocked it.

That was the birth of the Ambition Gap.

Building the Movement

In December 2023, Justin ran his first AI for Consultants workshop. Early 2024, determined to share this with as many people as possible, he launched the AI Marketing Summit, holding events across Melbourne and Sydney. That became the launch pad for the AI Marketing Bootcamp, a one-day intensive accredited by the Australian Marketing Institute that runs by application only.

But there was still a hunger from people beyond marketing. So the AI Mastery workshops began, running continuously every month in Melbourne and throughout Australia. Then corporates came calling. Copilot came of age. Gemini matured. Claude entered the picture. Every platform, every evolution, Justin was there first, translating it for business.

By mid-2025, something remarkable happened. Inbound enquiries surged from people who had asked ChatGPT for the best AI coach in Australia. ChatGPT was recommending Justin. The market had validated the mission.

Staying at the Edge

Over the Australian summer of 2025-2026, the next leap forward. Claude had its moment in the sun. Justin learned Claude Code and OpenClaw, pushing deep into the agentic era. Building autonomous workflows. Shipping real products with AI.

This game is always about staying out front. Holding on by your fingernails when the car is travelling at hundreds of miles per hour down a rocky road, not quite knowing what is coming next. Waking up every morning to incredible new headlines.

It is thrilling. It is exciting. And what is most incredible is hearing the stories of the lives changed along the way.

The Mission

Harness the cognitive and creative potential of humanity.

Not AI for AI's sake. AI as the key that unlocks what humans are truly capable of. That is the Ambition Gap. And closing it is Justin's life's work.

Based in Melbourne. Married with four kids. Studied marketing and creative advertising at RMIT. Certified Flow Coach under Professor Steven Kotler. When he is not helping businesses unlock the Ambition Gap, he is trying to be a better dad.
